Wilson Park
Vallejo, CA

Review by Mike

Wilson Park is the home of the Vallejo Seaweed of the Pecos League. When I passed through Vallejo in 2024, I was a week shy of the start of the Pecos League season and was not able to gain entry to the ballpark. I also have been unable to discover when it was built, but it has the look and feel of a late 1930s, early 1940s ballpark. If anyone has better information, please drop us a line.

The main grandstand is small, but has a roof and a real enclosed press box at the top. It is painted in a nice blue and yellow pattern and seems to be in good condition. There is metal bleacher seating down each baseline, with more of it on the 1st base side, even though this would mean more people looking into the setting sun.

The field looked like it needed a little work, with patches of brown, but the sprinklers were running, so the grounds crew was on the job getting ready for the new season. There are wooden, field-level dugouts and a small, basic scoreboard in right center field. That is about all that I could discern from afar, but it looked like a serviceable Pecos League facility that has served the community for, possibly, many decades.
