Dutchmen Field
Altamont, NY

Review by Gary

Keenholts Park is a fantastic complex comprised of eight minor baseball fields, five girls’ softball fields, and a regulation sized baseball stadium, known as Dutchmen Field. Named for the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League’s (PGCBL) Albany Dutchmen, this diamond sits away from the main collection of fields, up a slight incline in the 35+ acre Keenholts Park.

Dutchmen Field was the latest addition to Keenholts Park in 2021 and features a symmetrical configuration with 315’ to each foul pole and 384’ to dead center field. A nicely done 4’ stone backstop stretches to each covered DUG-out dugout and envelops the well-manicured grass playing field wonderfully. The 2-story all-in-one press box, concession stand and restroom behind home plate is made of the same sculptured blocks that make up the backstop and both dugouts.

With shaded, stadium style seating behind home plate and single row of individual seats down the lines, fans can choose their style of seating on either side of the grandstand. Dutchmen Field features large areas of landscaped open space for fans to set up their own chairs to catch the action either under the sun-drenched skies or under nearby shade trees.

The Dutchmen were born in 2009 and played for two seasons in the NY Collegiate Baseball League at Bleecker Stadium before joining the PGCBL in 2011, where they played in the Albany area at Bellizzi Stadium (2011-2018) and Siena College (2019). After COVID canceled the 2020 season, the Dutchmen christened their new home in this suburb outside of Albany, their most attractive venue yet.
